Hombroich spaceplacelab, North Rhine-Westphalia, 2003-
A group of 16 architects and artists have been invited by the Hombroich Island Foundation to extend the Museum Island Hombroich and its Missile Station with ideal designs for individual quarters set in an extensive landscape with low density development of maximum 10% of the site.
Hoidn Wang Partner is coordinating the designs of the individual architects and artists. A Manifesto (2004) and a set of Design Principles (2005) were agreed upon by all participants. Essentially a new form of responsibility by the residents for a communal landscape is being sought.
Hombroich spaceplacelab considers itself as an experiment in new forms of life set within the immediate context of the landscape.
