Vacation home in La Turbie, France, 2009
A small gardener's cottage and a wooden shed were renovated. A swimming pool was built. Given the maximum additional floor area of 10 sq. m. that could be added to the gardener's cottage and the client's interest in having a covered veranda, a roof form was found that could appear straightforward. The subdivision of the cottage was reorganized, a new kitchen and fireplace added.
Various important, but subtle relations had to be observed, such as the view from the living area through a doorway and window to Monaco beneath.
The wooden shed will be replaced with a similar shed. Here too, a veranda will be added to provide external shade and a sitting area.
