Reconstruction of the Villa Wolf by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe in Guben/Gubin as a full-scale model
Villa Wolf from 1926 was the first truly modern building by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe in Guben, today Polish Gubin. The cubic brick sculpture was sited on top of the steep slope above the Neiüe river. The client was the art-collector and textile factory owner Erich Wolf.
The family migrated in the 1930s. The villa was destroyed during World War II, but the main parts of the terraced landscape garden are conserved.
Barbara Hoidn is supporting the initiative of the association Architecture Price Berlin e.V. to re-build the House in its original dimensions recollecting moments of industrial and cultural peaks locally and regionally and at the same time investing in a future oriented German-Polish cultural exchange platform.
